DJ Al Gomez

About Me

I started DJ'ing at the age of 16. I was a member of a DJ crew known as the Disco Godz. My DJ name back then, circa 1970's, was "DJ Disco Al". The Disco Godz performed at various small to mid size house / wedding parties and college campus parties around NYC. Life was very very exciting. I was a kid in High School and was DJ'ing for adults and getting paid for it. I took computer programming courses all through high school. By the time I was old enough to go to college, I had already learned three computer programming languages. As I grew a little older and started college, DJ'ing took a back seat to adult responsibilities and education. I continued studies of computer science and programming throughout my college years. Soon after graduation responsibilities of work, home and family became the priority of life. I hold a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science from Monroe University.

Recent technological advancements in the music industry revived my passion for mixing popular music. I was amazed by how easy it is to DJ music these days. The DJ software organizes all of your digital music in just about any order your heart desires. There are so many effects that are now at your disposal with the push of a button. In my day we used to carry several really heavy milk crates full of vinyl LP records. And there were about three effects you could do as a DJ, Echo (if you had an echo box), Double and Phase (if you had a 2nd copy of the same LP record, which by the way were about $7.00 a pop).

My DJ Setup: I own a Hercules DJ Control Steel USB console, several computers and laptops, 3 amplifiers, and various subwoofers and speakers. My preferred DJ software is Virtual DJ. I am literally a closet DJ. That is to say that My DJ console and computer setup are in and remain in my closet!. I create and post mixes from time to time when I have a chance. I hope you enjoy them. God Bless.
